Another winter has been, and is sort of gone, so the age old discussion of putting on the heating or a jumper may have been had again.
Everybody has a different type of house ranging from the old and full of character to the brand new and shiny. A lot has changed over the years in the way our homes are built but a lot of things just seem to be stuck in the past.
Take heating for example, radiators can be bulky and unsightly or they can be modern and stylish.
But what about underfloor heating, the idea has been around for a very long time and everybody knows heat rises so why not start it at the lowest point? Technology and materials have advanced a lot in recent years so now is the time to have a think about underfloor heating.
There are 2 types, hydronic (wet) and electric (dry), both having their own place in keeping our feet warm. Researching the best option for your room, or complete house really needs the advice of experts as preparation such as draught proofing and insulation are as important, if not more so than the actual source of the heating. And you need to know how much heat you need, if you don't have enough you'll end up needing a radiator as well!
There are of course still reasons you may want a radiator in the room and sometimes underfloor heating just isn't going to be the solution for you. Smart radiator thermostats and smart boiler controllers can be a good start to reducing your energy consumption.
Maybe you like a nice warm towel after your shower or bath or maybe you want to make the radiator a feature of the room.
Whatever you choose, heating systems are normally in place for a long time, so have a good think about it…with a nice warm mug of tea (and a biscuit)
