Bathroom Trends We're Ditching in 2026

Design

Bathroom trends are shifting in 2026 and it’s not about chasing the latest fad. Homeowners are moving away from cold, clinical spaces and towards bathrooms that feel calm, inviting, and more considered. At Bath & More, we’re seeing a clear change in what customers are choosing, so here are three bathroom trends we’re happily ditching in 2026 - and what we recommend replacing them with.

All White Bathrooms

White feels like a ‘safe’ choice, particularly if you’re not confident when it comes to choosing interior finishes, but it can feel very flat and one-dimensional if we don’t have contrast. We’re also drawn to white sanitaryware because it looks clean and fresh, but if you use it everywhere in your bathroom, your space will feel cold and clinical – not like the sublime sanctuary it should be.

Replace it with…

Warm neutrals and earthy tones, think soft stone shades, warm beiges and clay like the Olive Green Metro Brick Panel from Fibo and the Cremona Marble Matte Tiles from Multipanel. These colours create a calmer, more inviting feel, and are far more timeless - especially in UK homes where natural light can be limited. If you are keen to keep the white, Pantone’s colour for 2026 is Cloud Dancer, a warm toned ‘off-white’ so you’ll see variations of this cropping up in bathrooms this year.

Chrome Bathroom Fittings

If you’re committed to chrome, fair enough. It is still the leading finish for bathroom fittings so ultimately, you’ll find you have more variety with chrome. BUT, it is suffering from trend fatigue. This is another option that people gravitate towards because it feels like a safe choice, however visually it’s bland and doesn’t pair as well with warmer toned colour palettes that are trending.

Replace it with…

Warmer toned metals. Brushed brass taps, bronze finished mirrors, or - if you like the look of chrome but want more warmth - polished nickel accesories. These finishes add subtle luxury and pair beautifully with both modern and traditional bathrooms. They also age better visually and feel more intentional than standard chrome. Bathroom manufacturers are onto this and are introducing much more interesting options such as gunmetal finishes and rose gold taps. If you’ve kept the rest of your space simple, this could be the jewellery that makes all the difference.

Excessive Ornamentation

The antidote to a white bathroom is not four different feature walls, no matter how much you want to reflect your ‘personality’.  Overly themed bathrooms or those with fussy decorative fixtures can feel visually overwhelming. When bathrooms are places to unwind, too many busy details can make it harder to switch off so keep your palette to a minimum.

Replace it with…

Calm, curated spaces with natural textures.

Warm taupes, mushroom tones, or soft greens paired with stone-effect tiles, wood slat wall panels, or brushed metal accessories create bathrooms with depth, warmth, and a spa-like feel. Layering texture adds subtle interest and elevates the space without tipping into trend-led design. Warmer colour palettes also make bathrooms feel calmer and more inviting.

In 2026, bathroom design is less about playing it safe and more about making thoughtful choices that last. Warmer colours, considered finishes, and a pared-back approach create spaces that feel balanced rather than bland, and personal without being overdone. If you’re planning a new bathroom, stepping away from these tired trends is a simple way to achieve a space that feels current now and well-judged for years to come.
